On March 9, 2025, Yersin University of Da Lat held a commemorative event marking the 82nd anniversary of Dr. Alexandre Yersin’s passing (March 1, 1943 – March 1, 2025), alongside celebrations for the International Francophonie Day (March 20, 2025).

As we know, Dr. Alexandre Yersin was an exceptional figure who dedicated his life to research, exploration, and scientific contributions – especially in the field of medicine. Not only was he a brilliant microbiologist, but he also made tremendous contributions to the development of medical science in Viet Nam and the world.

His ideals and work ethic have become a symbol of devotion, courage, and intelligence. Dr. Yersin was also credited with proposing the idea of developing Da Lat as a resort town to the Governor-General of French Indochina in the late 19th century -laying the foundation for the vibrant and livable city it is today.

The event welcomed representatives from the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), the French Embassy, the Yersin Admirers Association of Khanh Hoa Province, university leadership, and students. It served as an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, promote French language education, and help students access academic and research programs in Francophone countries.

Guest speakers shared insights on the current state of the French language in Viet Nam and explored potential partnerships between Yersin University of Da Lat and French institutions. The event was not only a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Yersin but also marked a new milestone in the university’s international integration efforts, opening doors for Yersiners to study and work in Francophone environments in the future.
